Yes, Crime Does Pay, Ask Frank Lucas

Crime does pay and it all depends on who you ask and their point of reference. While listening to KJLH on Friday, I learned of the death of Frank Lucas whom I’d never heard of. Listening to his life I was astound to hear of the magnitude of this drug lord. Accomplishments, that were usually touted to the mafia or other ethnicity but certainly not a poor black man from North Carolina.

This man was may not have been educated in an institution but he had wisdom and a lot of street smarts to join in a business that usually made the black man the user or the pusher but Mr. Lucas was a hustler and amassed wealth with his dealings from Asia other countries.

When I heard of his death, I chuckled because he did what I had not ever heard of a black man doing. Mr. Lucas infiltrated a drug arena system designed for the big boys and their cohorts but Mr. Lucas not only learned how to play the drug game but he amassed a fortune.

Mr. Frank Lucas, North Carolinian, was born September 9, 1920 and died recently on May 30 and was known as an American drug Trafficker King Pin who operated in Harlem during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. I was a teenager at this time and living in Mississippi so I was not privy to learn of Mr. Lucas drug trafficking activity.
