The Longest Stroke-Dementia Road To Somewhere Journal
December 19, 2018, Thursday “The Show Must Go On!”
Wakeup time later than usual, I was a bit tired and stayed in bed more than usual. This effort put me behind in my schedule, therefore I had Mother to remain in bed until about 8:30Am so that I could get some things done. Monitoring her on the baby monitor from my desk upstairs as she slept in her room, many occasions she attempted to get up and I insisted not time. The last time I insisted her to go back to sleep, she started to complain, moan and groan. So I rushed down to get her out of bed.
As she performed her morning ritual before breakfast, she woke up with the same frantic attitude to go home. I chose this morning not to buy into her wild energy and gave little attentions to all the things she was doing to get my attention. My efforts of not conforming kept her energy at a lower energy than the day before. Thank God for the wisdom and the fortitude to stay calm, no matter what.
From about 9:30 AM until 11:15 AM, she ranted and walked back and forth from the den, to the kitchen, then back to the den, then to the living room, sat down then headed for the front door, that’s when I stepped in and had her to return to the den. Just as we were about to sit down the door bell rang.
