Here are 8 tips to prevent burnout or meltdown: Set reasonable goals, know your limits, understand what you’re dealing with, learn to accept your feelings, reach out and trust someone, find a support group, stay healthy and positive.
Caregivers like teachers have a tremendous job to do in securing another’s future and their safety. A caregiver may be a child now being the parent, or a family member taking care of a love one or another entrusted to be a hired professional caregiver. We are all human and each has their physiological breaking point. Knowing when to step back to regroup is crucial for any caregiver especially before some sort of meltdown. Once a meltdown occurs, then the caregiver is of little value to another and oneself. To get revenge on the rage within or without, first separate from the person. Step back and just breathe out the frustration felt. Secondly, seek out that one thing that brings peace and relaxation. It may be as simple as a walk on the beach or going to a movie of just shopping. Whatever vice you have do it as long as it is healthy for you.
