Tuesday, December 4 “The Regrettable Meltdown!”

Fear!! Fear is false evidence appearing real!! I must admit, I was a bit frightened at the prospect of not knowing what to do if a situation arose with my Mother that I could not handle. Having lived at the hospital and the rehab center for seventeen days, I had learned a lot about what was required for my Mother’s continued rehabilitation at home but there is always that one thing that happens that you don’t anticipate!! In learning from the staff how to perform successfully with my Mother’s care still left me a bit baffled. For I know that theory is one thing and application is another. Realizing this profound reality staring me in my face now, I made every effort to assist and learn from the experts who were caring for Mother at the hospital and rehab center. Not wanting to be like a fish our of water, I sought to cover all basis for Mother’s car, from the doctors, nurses and caregivers perspective.

The day after Mother arrived home, Tuesday, new life official began. Not the life she had before the strike, not the life she had in the hospital or rehab center but a new life of learning how to walk on her own, speak clearer and the use of her right arm and hand. Couldn’t even perform the old morning routine that she knew, but had to create a new…
