The Longest Stroke-Dementia Road To Somewhere Journal
December 12, 2018 Wednesday Outing # From Home-base to HomeRun!
Happy to be back in the gym. While Mother is asleep, I workout at the gym from 3:30AM to 4:30AM this is my much balancing and needed me time. This starts my day on a solid footing. With Mother everyday is so different. Some days are light and easier to deal with and other days are very difficult and trying especially when Mother becomes adamant about going home.
Back home about 4:40AM to get in a few chores before Mother awakes. Today Mother awoke at 7AM thus we begun our morning ritual, bathing, dressing, breakfast, physical therapy routine. Each morning, I encouraged her to do more and more for herself. She is super independent therefore I encouraged that independence no matter how long it takes for her to get prepared for the day.
Since we are both very outgoing people, being outdoors and around others does wonder for the both of us. Thank God we don’t have to go far to do this. Grabbed her wheelchair, walked her to do door, got extra underwear after a just in case potty beak out the door we went. Quick stops here and there proved beneficial. Sometimes, she sat in the car and other times, if I would be long in shoppiing, I took her in with me. I purposely try to get in as much as I can because I just never know what later or tomorrow…
