The Longest Stroke-Dementia Road To Somewhere Journal
December 7, 2018 Friday, Saving Grace Wheelchair!
As usual, woke up around six thirty AM, like we had a job to go to. I guess old habits die hard. Like all the days prior, started with a routine. This day was no different, bath, got dressed, had breakfast, hand therapy and then off to run errands for the very first time of returning from the rehab center.
First stop was the post office, Mother remained in the car and I was a nervous wreck leaving her in the car alone. Because of the stroke, I didn’t know if she’d get out of the car or what. Walked in the post office about 9AM and the line was extremely longer than I had hoped. This made me even more nervous. Was hoping I could run in an out with it being so early. As I stood in line, I’d find a window to peak out of to make sure she was okay. Every time, I moved up in the line, I found a new window to peak from. Not wanting anyone to think I had issues. One time I stood by the card rack in the post office and pretended to look at greetings card as I peered from a different window. Next in line, I remained in line until my turn. Rushed to the teller, rush to pay and rush out of the door, Mother was fine. What a relief.
Decided to go to Ross and do a quick return. Again, Mother remained in the car by choice. Now, was a…
