The Longest Stroke-Dementia Road To Somewhere Journal
January 9, 2018 — Wednesday “Love My Mother, Hate Dementia”
Returned home from working out at 24 Hour Fitness and teaching my cycling class of twenty five at LA Fitness at 7:00 AM to my Mother sitting on side of the bed. I rushed in threw off my workout clothes and put on my robe like I had just gotten out of bed. I informed Mother that I was tired and needed a bit more rest and she should rest a bit more. She made the attempt to lay down and stated, “I want to get up”. Still tried to persuade her by saying, “you can watch television, while I rest, okay”. She said she didn’t want to watch television. I could tell she wanted to get up, not wanting the day to start in a desperate manner, I advised she could get up.
Forcing her to stay in bed against her will could be the beginning of a horrific day. I just needed a little time to complete my work but putting all in prospective figured somehow I’d find the right moment and I did. We did our morning rituals and all seem well and content until we sat down to watch television about 9:00 AM.
Constantly she asked about going home and I answered as usual. Then she started this thing with the bathroom, every ten minutes or less, she was running to the bathroom. This started in the morning and lasted until about 2:00PM, when we left to go to the store. She used…
