December 18, Tuesday “Seeing the Light”

This morning was no different from any other morning. Performed the regular morning rituals along with physical therapy. Every day this week consisted of running many errands but today was going to include just one venture out to the supermarket.

Around 9AM, we headed to the den to watch television. The moment we sat down Mother started talking about going home and I answered her consistently as she asked for hours and hours and hours almost nonstop. It is amazing how she can do this and not get tired. Next, she jumped up and down off the sofa to leave, more times than I can count. She thought she was in her home state and could walk home, ride home or take a bus. After I told her this was California and not her home state, she sat down with astonishment upon hearing that she was in California. This happened frequently, so I was not surprised. One must find the humor in all this otherwise all of it could push you over the edge.

For the next seven hours, she ran from the patio door and gate, then to the front door to get out and walk home. I was at my wits end with all this running around the house non stop. I prayed she wouldn’t fall and break a hip or something or knock over some glasses pieces around the house.
