The Longest Stroke-Dementia Road To Somewhere Journal
January 20, 2019 Sunday — “Kickoff Countdown To Home“
Taught a class at 24 Hours Fitness, returned home to get Mother ready for church. She had breakfast before I left. In the bathtub, out faster than the day before. She has gotten better and better removing herself solo from the tub. I felt more confidence that she would be able to navigate herself from her own tub, I pray.
Another milestone, Mother wore her first pair of dress shoes today. Was not sure how she would walk in them verses her everyday flat comfort shoes. She wore them and they were fine. Was going to take a second pair to church but after she walked around the house in her dress shoes, I knew she be okay walking in them. She has made milestone and milestone!!
Of to church we went and had a pleasant experience for the last time in this church with mother before her departure. Taped a video expressing our feelings regarding her visit with us and her feelings about visiting with us. We are so grateful for this time coming because it had been a long time coming and was not sure how long this journey would be.
