Choose whom you will serve, refine carbs or complex carbs!
Someone approached me the other day and ask how can they loose weight and I advised decrease refine carbohydrates, white bread, white potatoes, white flour, white rice, white pasta, refined sugar, refined wheat, and the weight will melt off along with drinking lots of water, half your body weight in ounces.
This person advised as they laugh, “ I know but I love to eat those and they taste so good!” Funny, we want to have it both ways. The body is not designed to have it both ways, no more than you can serve two masters (unhealthy and healthy foods) simultaneously and loose the weight and be healthy.
Our body process foods very differently based on our genetic makeup. Some people have slow metabolism while other may have a fast metabolism which assist in burning calories. These refine carbohydrates are processed in our body in such a way that they can lead to cravings for more carbohydrates, aka sugars. These carbohydrates convert to sugar in the body. Note, sugar is addicting. By eliminating them, you decrease food cravings, making it easier to eat less and lose weight.
These white products have been stripped of the bran and is digest very easily and quickly by the body. Thus not only do you crave more, you will eat more and as a result of the digesting, they are quickly process unlike darker products that retained the bran in them and is processed at a slower rate. Refine carbohydrates trigger a food craving cycle. This you need to circumvent to loose weight. Once eaten, there is an immediate spike of sugar in the bloodstream. The body releases insulin due to this extra sugar that is quickly digested in the body. Insulin is a hormone your pancreas makes that allows sugar to enter your cells, lowering the amount of sugar in your blood.
“Do you live to eat, or eat to live?!”
Eating these foods will cause your blood sugar to increase releasing more insulin than is needed. This extra insulin will make the blood sugar drop lower than normal. When your body senses low blood sugar, you crave more carbohydrates. More and more refine carbohydrates equal fat.
