Day 4, Our journey — -My Mother Got Dementia but Dementia doesn’t have Mother
Mother awoke as usual and ready to go. As I prepared to get up, she went into the den and sat where she waited for me as I dressed and made my bed.
As I joined her, the first thing she asked was , “What was for breakfast?” I advised I’d make it for her. Of course, she asked a few more times, I no longer count, just answer. She wanted to be heard and I do my best to comply without being annoyed or upset.
I diverted her by asking her to open the curtains and blinds at the windows in the den and living room. She got up and opened the curtains in the den, living room and kitchen. Explained to her the importance of allowing light to come into each room. It’s life.
I made her breakfast and as she approached her breakfast she only saw one plate and repeatedly asked why I was not eating and I answered sever times that I was not hungry. Eventually she stopped and ate her…
