How To Build Endurance, Runners Gut Holds the Key for a future Probiotic

As a fitness instructor I am always fascinated to learn more scientific ways to enhance a workout. So when I saw this article in the LA Times newspaper, “Runners get boost from gutty performers,” I was very interested to learn how all this would play out.
Oftentimes, researchers come up with unique ways on how to duplicate what is naturally produce in the body and manifest it outwardly of the body to be ingested into the body to obtain the same effect.
My only problem with this is that every body is so uniquely different from person to person, ethnicity to ethnicity, socioeconomic background, culture, exposure, etc, all play a roll in how our bodies do what they do, inherently.
How many control study groups would be required to come remotely close to duplicating such a diverse population and how the bodies respond when running or being a marathoner. Yes, after a run, many marathoners possessed a particular bacteria in their gut which allowed or provoked this study to see what boost their endurance. Life is so much more complicated, before and after a race for these marathoners. Many questions, come…
