… I worked for Inc. magazine, a gifted colleague, David Whitford, gave me a valuable piece of advice. He said when writing a story, don’t try to hit a home-run. Go for a line drive. In other words, don’t try so hard. By aiming too high, you can only disappoint. But by being a reliable contributor, turning in reliable copy, you’ll build up a respectable body of work and now and again you’ll hit a home run.
