Day 7 Monday Journey with mother, mini stroke aftermath, mild dementia and I! Mother & Daughter Casual & Relaxing Bonding Day

After a week of traveling around the southern region namely Alabama, Florida and Mississippi, I decided that Mother needed a break from all the hustle and bustle of in and out of the car, up and down stairs, and in and out of many houses and stores. While she seemed to enjoy all, this is not her norm and did not want to overdue it with her. At 93 a sedentary body will tire quicker when out of the norm. Mother had always been bent on trying to keep up with the young, no matter what. During my week’s visit with her, she held her on and never complained. Seeing many unrecognizable faces were a bit daunting but I assisted her to maintain a calmed mental balance.

Today was a delight for she and I. No long distance driving, just perusing locally. Tried to contact the caregiver not to come for I wanted to spend my last whole day with mother. She arrived and I gave her the day off. She came in and chatted with mother a few minutes and explained her absence to mother and that she’d see her in a few days.

Btw, mother was up and dressed before me and had already cleaned her room and made up her bed. She is a fast mover. Saw her peeping through my door and I spoke out, “stop peeping at me,” then she opened the door with a big guilty smile on her face. She returned and sat on the sofa in the den waiting…
