On days when traffic was jammed and time was short and limited, the carpool lane looked so tempting while solo driving, but when I thought or read the fine on the sign, my car stayed the regular lanes.

There have been a few stories of some who creatively used the carpool lane illegally, a skeleton with a hoodie, or a mannequin in the passenger seat. Yesterday, there was another situation that makes the above stories normal.

In Las Vegas, a hearse driver was using the HOV lane and was stopped by the Highway Patrol Trooper and an interesting conversation ensued.

As the driver was driving, the trooper noticed he was in the HOV lane and driving alone and turn on his siren with the red and blue lights flashing as he pulled the driver over.

Trooper: Hi! Trooper Smaka, Nevada Highway Patrol.

Man: (Handed the trooper his driver’s license.)

Trooper: You got your registration and insurance as well?

Man: (Handed those over, then the driver motioned toward the back of the van.) There is a body back there.

Trooper: (Coolly.) Oh, you have a deceased in the back?

The trooper was mildly amused for the driver seem to be serious and committed to his corpse for driving the carpool lane.
