Are you giving others the glory?
Pros
When one does for another, the internal reward is like no other and can’t be bought with money. Priceless!! It becomes magical to the human spirit and a sense of calm ensues your total being, when you cease seeking the spotlight for yourself but give to another.
We all have that ego-centered part of our being that seeks attention. It sometimes screams, “look at me, look at me, I’m the best or better, my life is more interesting, I have the right thing to say, I have all the right answers!” This is seeking total spot light on oneself. There is a little voice inside of us that screams that your story is more important than another or their accomplishments are not more important than yours.
We can choose to be an ego builder and one ego squashier. The ego is that part of us that wants to be seen, heard, appreciated, respected, loved, considered special, often at the expense of another. It’s that part of us that interrupts someone else’s story, or impatiently waits his turn to speak so that he can bring the conversation and attention back to himself.
Many of us are guilty of this and too our detriment. When you circumvent the conversation back to yourself, you may circumvent the joy of the other in sharing. Everyone loses. This can cause a distance between the talker and listener. Anything that goes around…
