155,000 SAG-AFTRA members get a kick in the butt, again! 10% working actors, 90% actors struggling, get deductions taken away. Career deductions at least gave back something to the struggling actor during tax season.

As an actor, we look for way more jobs than we book. Along with the search comes lots of expenses for the search and sometimes getting the job doesn’t pay for the expenses incurred but it’s part of the culture and the way things have been for years and are to day.

We, actors, accepted this fact and pay for the expenses sometimes sacrificing needed necessities. Some can barely afford rent, so they bunk up with others, while struggling to pay for basic needs, i.e. food, clothing and daily needs. As we go into the business, we realize the struggle is real. You have to love what you do, otherwise this business will destroy you, mentally, physically, economically, socially, and spiritually.
