St. Francis, Ole Cram’s Hometown!!

The late Mr. Tobe Zweygardt & the late Janetta Flo (Waters) Evins, Yesterday’s Trailblazers left much history to be explored and entertained!

Below are photos of various sights of Saint Francis, Kansas depicting much history of this small quaint town and a neighboring city, Haigler, Nebraska !!

Cherry Creek Encampment was a delightful sight to see. Delightful for various reasons. One because it is preserving a part of history even though a tragedy but nonetheless preserved. Secondly, recognition of a human error and tragedy is a new beginning not to repeat. Thirdly, a family member, Janetta Evins, and a friend close to the family, Tobe Zweygardt, were instrumental in erecting this Memorial Monument. Tobe Zweygardt created the iron sculptures and they were erected in memory of the “Cheyenne and other Indians, survivors of the November 29, 1864 massacre at Sand Creek, Colorado-who fled to the Cherry Creek Valley.
