If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.

It take approximately 30 days for a habit to become your reality. Like playing a piano, practice and practice and practice. The more repetition of doing a particular thing will cement in your psychological being. The brain is a muscle and needs constant reinforce for any one thing to reside in your long term memory. Where repetition is the key for locking into your long term and not short term, your actions must be purposeful . Short term memory will hold an activity for a brief period of time unless constantly reinforced.

Have you ever listened to a song on the radio over and over and one time unconsciously or consciously, at some point you may blurt out the lyrics effortlessly. Well just like with forming a habit, constant reinforcement is required to seal that habit into your being and that takes time.

Like riding a bicycle, you just don’t learn how to ride in the first try, even with training wheels. It’s takes much effort and repetition. Each ride builds on the next and the next until sooner or later how to ride a bike is seared in your memory. This was a habit that turned into a capability.

I loved playing the piano and for years, I’d played inconsistently, one day and not the next. Weeks would go by and then I play again…
