We can’t say or read this enough, “You are what you eat” and “You are what you do” and make no mistake about these simple truths. To keep the body healthy you must maintain a healthy regimen of food and exercise. Staying healthy is all about balance. Also studies have shown that high blood pressure can be reduce by eating a healthy diet.

While blood pressure does fluctuate as we get older, a healthy diet will keep it balanced. High blood pressure is a national epidemic. Almost a third of Americans have high blood pressure and another third have blood pressure that is higher than normal. We must avoid foods that are high in sugar, fats, caffeine, and sodium. Some foods are blatantly comprised of tons of sugar while others are concealed.

My brother broke all the rules when it came to a healthy diet. First, I must add he loved sugar. He could sit down at a meal and eat, pie, cake, cookie and a soda coupled with mashed potatoes, cornbread, fried chicken, and some vegetables like collard greens that had been cooked so long they possessed no nutritional value. That was lunch. Breakfast was donuts and any kind of fast food or carbs, he could get his hands on as he begun his day at such a high speed. Dinner was more carbs and fatty foods, ribs, bread, and this list goes on for all things bad for the body. Warning him was a joke. He’d just laugh, until one day it caught…
